For far to long outsiders have established themselves in the inner cities to deliver provisions for the local people, without the representation of local people within in their provision.
It is my opinion that many have failed to deliver due to their negative stereotyping of the vast majority of jobseekers as unemployable.
In my life I have been institutionalised, a militant political activist, a young offender and also deemed to be a failure at school.
Today I am an academic, lecturer, trainer, consultant, father and run a business, supposing I would have listened to the negative stereotypical beliefs of certain teachers and numerous outsiders who thought that they knew best,
where would I be today?
Perhaps it is the negative perceptions of certain stereotypical individuals who work within education and the employment sector that is holding back inner city resident's from releasing their true potential.
This is my opinion which is based on actual real life experiences, of growing up and living and working in East London, we from the street are fed up with the negative attitude and poor performance of inner city providers who seem to think they understand our needs even though they are not from our streets, many are to scared to walk our streets.
We are a talented group and with the right attitude, we can achieve anything we desire to be, such as a barrister, surgeon, entrepreneur, pilot etc
It is time for real change; we at PLG-HOPE are committed to change in the inner cities utilizing inner city residents who have a clearer understanding of their socio-economic environment towards positive change.
